Coaching Your turn

Why the hard ones feel unfair

Because difficulty is a disguise, and we measured it rather than guessed.

861 officially banded questions, one driver at a time

We took every Problem Solving question across four Official Guides, kept the difficulty band the test maker had already assigned, and classified what was actually going on inside each one.

What climbs with difficulty is concealment. At the easy end the question announces its own method; at the hard end, recognising the method is the question.

And the thing everyone assumes is wrong

Heavy arithmetic is flat across the bands. Ugly numbers are stage dressing, not difficulty. Seven to the 83rd reads exactly like seven cubed, which is why the question you just watched is hard for a reason that has nothing to do with the size of 83.

So our questions get harder by hiding the move, never by making you grind.

Every question is checked before you see it: the answer recomputed from the question’s own text, the wrong options proven wrong, near-duplicates refused, and anything needing arithmetic you couldn’t do in your head thrown out. Then a human reads it.

Watch your ceiling rise

You’ll know it’s working when you stop reaching for the hints.

One number, and it is an honest one

Not questions answered, which only measures time spent. Not a percentage correct, which every coach can flatter. The hardest level you solve with no help at all, tracked over your last thirty questions against the thirty before them.

Drift to easier questions and it does not move. Start guessing and it does not move. It goes up when you actually get better, which is the only reason to put a number on a screen.

It remembers what you keep missing

Which shapes cost you hints, which ones you now take clean, and which one is worth another go tomorrow. Finish a question you struggled with and ask for another of the same shape, in different clothes, and see whether the coaching stuck.

That is the test we hold ourselves to. Not whether the explanation sounded good, but whether you solved the next one alone.
